Incirlik Air Base
Situated at a 12 km distance from Adana, Turkey, Incirlik is an Air Force Base. It is an important Air Base. It is also situated at a 56 km distance from the Mediterranean Sea, so its importance in the Middle East is utmost. The base was very important during the Lebanon crisis, and nowadays it has a primary role of conducting reconnaissance missions, which is also what it has done during the Cold War. The base is an important NATO base. The base has many F-15 and F-16 aircraft, all of them used in the many training facilities on-base and off-base. Today’s mission of the base is to aid the American troops in their interventions in the Iraq war.
Commander Colonel Philip McDaniel is also the leader of the 39th Air Base Wing, the host unit at Incirlik, which has in interesting logo showing 3 arrows, the symbols of flight and aircraft on a sky bearing the colors of NATO. The base also has a KC-135R Stratotanker an F-16 Fighting Falcon. In terms of crew recruiting, they are very friendly to recruit very well-prepared troops to aid the Oriental situation. Moreover, although the base does not have much public information to offer, they do receive a lot of press, for their missions in the Eastern part of the world and, also for their training facilities.
Attractions near the base are few, and so are the educational facilities for young people, who have not graduated a high school.
